Shepherd Lutheran Church believes unapologetically that the Holy Bible is the verbally inspired Word of God, contains no errors or contradictions, and reveals God's infalliable Truth (2 Timothy 3:16).

The Bible, consequently, is the changeless source of all our teachings and practices.  The True God is the Triune God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) (Matthew 28:19).  Whoever does not worship this God worships a false god.  All people hold the status of being sinful and fall short of God's glory (Romans 3:23).  Our sin condems us and we can do nothing to earn our salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9).

The only Savior for fallen mankind is Jesus Christ who is true God and true man (John 14:6).  Christ won salvation for everyone because He paid the full penalty for every sin committed when He suffered and died on the cross (1 John 2:2).

Those who are benefitting eternally from what Christ has earned for the whole world are those who have faith in Him as their Lord and Savior (John 3:16).  We can not give ourselves the credit for this saving faith because it too is a gift from God.

Saving faith was created in us and continues to be strengthened in us by God working through His Word (Ephesians 2:1, Romans 10:17).  God confers and assures sinners of their salvation through the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion (Acts 2:38, Matthew 26:26ff).
