For the reading… ~The 64th WELS Biennial Convention is being held at Luther Preparatory School in Watertown, WI 31 July-03 August.  The BORAM [Book Of Reports And Memorials] is available on the east narthex table if you’d like to read about what’s going on in the WELS.  More info is on the website: wels.net/2017synodconvention.  The theme for the assembly during Reformation 500 is Our Great Heritage.  May the LORD of the Church bless this biennial gathering to His glory and for the good of His kingdom!

Anyone interested? ~  Would you like to enjoy an evening of Beethoven performed under the auspices of the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival on THURSDAY 27 July/7:30 PM at the Simms Auditorium on the ABQ Academy campus.  There’s a sign-up sheet in the narthex.  Ten or more receive a 20% off the $37 ticket price.

F.Y.I. ~ Should your summer plans take you away from SHEPHERD on a Sunday or two, stop by the office – we’ll be
happy to help you find a church near your destination.  OR:
look it up under the WELS locator at www.wels.net.

N.B.2:  The July OPA Meeting will be held on 15 JULY/10 AM.

Summer 2017 VBS! ~ The Discipleship Chairman  is
Looking for volunteers to serve as teachers, helpers and assistants for Summer VBS the mornings of July 24-28 (9 AM–12 Noon).  The course we’ll use is from CPH: A Mighty Fortress ~ another reminder in this year of REFORMATION 500 of how God used Martin Luther to bring back the open Bible and restore Biblical truth to the Church.  As always, many helping hands are needed
We’re pleased to hear that our young people will be participating in many ways.  Perhaps you’d like to volunteer your help and assistance, too!  Speak with our Discipleship Chairman.

Come and worship! ~ We have Monday Evening Worship at 7 PM each week to afford those who are away on the weekend, busy with work or other family engagements the opportunity to worship Jesus, hear His saving Word and celebrate the Sacrament (on the first and third Mondays).  Once again, let this be your invitation to worship with us when you can.  Remember these words from the Psalmist: Come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.  [Psalm 95:6]  See YOU in Church!

Military Appreciation Day/Night! ~ The Church Council gave the green light to a proposal to hold a double-duty get-together on SATURDAY 22 July / 3-7 PM … an event to invite neighbors and members to our campus for a fun social activity with an emphasis on our school and as a way through promotions at Kirtland AFB to honor our military.  Watch for sign-up sheets for you to get involved with crafts, activities, refreshments, campus tours, meet the faculty, drinks and the like.  Think of our Fall Festivals and last year’s Eggstravaganza for comparison.  “This is a huge opportunity to reach out to military personnel (both active and veteran), to show our appreciation and also let them know we are here as a Church, a school and resource, especially during employment.  We’d like to make this a semi-annual event … with the second event taking place between Thanksgiving and Christmas.”  If this includes you as being involved and ready to serve – talk to the leaders.  We’ll be glad to find a way to get the project off to a flying start!
