“If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides,
so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.”
[I Peter 4:11]

Selfless service:  Others see what we do, God sees the why.

L.I.F.E. ( Lutherans in Fellowship and Education) has been a part of Shepherd Lutheran for many years. The ladies of the congregation have been responsible for numerous potlucks, funeral luncheons, Easter flowers, devotional books, etc. They have also been responsible for fundraising and purchase of kitchen items and narthex furniture. They have gathered for prayer and meditation on regular basis. However, following a year in which monthly LIFE meetings were suspended, we have found that interest in the current organization continues to wane (e.g. unfilled officer, circle, and committee positions, low attendance numbers at bi-monthly Sunday business meetings, etc.) Therefore, on November 18th there will be a brief, one item meeting after church. The motion will be made to dissolve L.I.F.E. The mission of the women of Shepherd remains the same and we will continue to serve our congregation. In the future, interested women might develop a new organization in a fresh new way. In the meantime, we encourage all women of Shepherd to continue to participate in congregational activities. Please pray about this.

Remembering our veterans! ~ This Sunday, November 11, is Veterans’ Day once again.  Take a moment to thank a vet – those who’ve served and those serving today – for devoting their lives to serve our country.

Folded hands and thankful hearts! ~ We’re observing the Thanksgiving holiday with a special service at 7 PM on WEDNESDAY 21 November.  Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name! [Psalm 100:4]  Make your plans now to join your fellow Christians with songs of praise!  O, give thanks!

It’s never too early to mark your calendar for an important event!
Shepherd will hold an Advent by Candlelight for ladies of the congregation, their female family members, friends and neighbors, high school age and up, on Sunday, December 2nd at 6:00 p.m. There is no charge for this event.  This is a wonderful evening of the Word, music, and fellowship to help you prepare your hearts for the Advent season before the holidays get into full swing!

Heard it through the grapevine… ~ Our WELS brothers and sisters at PEACE/Rio Rancho are looking to dedicate their refurbished/renovated facility (after the devastating fire) on SUNDAY 25 November.  The time is TBD.  We join them in praising God for His goodness and grace!

LOOKING AHEAD TO NEXT YEAR:

A group of Lutheran pastors and professors known as The Wartburg Project [headed by WELS Pastor John Brug/OT editor and WELS Pastor Brian Keller/NT editor] is completing a new translation of the Bible called the Evangelical Heritage Translation (EHV).  The complete EHV will be available through our Northwestern Publishing House beginning in July 2019.  Today, it is available for you to preorder.  Discounts will apply for every certain amount ordered.  Watch for more details soon.

An encouraging word… ~ We have Monday Evening Worship at 7 PM each week to afford those who are away on the weekend, busy with work or other family engagements the opportunity to sing our Savior’s praises, hear His saving Word and celebrate the Sacrament (on the first and third Mondays).  Once again, let this be your invitation to worship with us when you can.  Remember these
words from the Psalmist: Come, let us worship and bow
down, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.
[Psalm 95:6]  See YOU in Church!
